I find the best rule of thumb is to just do what you want as long as it doesn't hurt the other guy (unless he wants you to!). Don't think about whether or not it's too 'dirty', whatever that means. If you wanna do it, go ahead - and fuck everybody else (figuratively - or otherwise).
